Look at Marchem's History

Marchem's manufacturing facility is situated in a modern, international industrial area of the historical port city of Cape Town, South Africa.

Cape Town has for many years been an important fashion centre of Southern Africa with its cosmopolitan culture and international appeal luring the creative spirit of the textile trade. Today we have a strong, quality driven and increasingly export focused industry, with many well known fashion houses scattered throughout this coastal city.

Secondly, Cape Town's popularity as an international tourist destination with it's picturesque charm and its strategic positioning has made it an obvious choice for leading international advertising, media, television and film companies to ply their trade. The incredible variety of scenery, architecture and superb climatic conditions has been largely brought to the fore by South Africa's world renowned advertising industry.

All these advantages make Cape Town an obvious choice of situation for Marchem's manufacturing and research plant.

Marchem started in 1990 after Gary Marrison was approached as a chemist to look into new developments within the textile screen printing industry. At this point his brother, Shaun together with the backing of the family companies, embarked on a fact finding mission. It soon became evident that there was enormous potential for a service driven, scientifically based and business orientated screen supply company, the brothers decided to meet the challenge.

From humble beginnings, manufacturing in a single garage the brother's passion, determination and systems orientated approach to the industry allowed them to grow in leaps and bounds, enabling them to acquire prestigious international agencies year after year.

Over the past three decades Marchem has developed and manufactured an extensive range of waterbased products, adhesives, screen cleaning chemistry, print bases, pigments, specialized coatings for a multitude of applications and in more recent years the development and expansion of the trailblazing UNIFLEX Plastisol Printing System.

The UNIFLEX System has the most comprehensive plastisol colour reference system available, with more than 11,300 shades to choose from!

MARCHEM has harnessed its youthful spirit, drive, determination, dedication and most importantly - PASSION, ensuring it unparalleled leadership within the industry. With it's two large state of the art manufacturing facilities, training centre, national depots and innovative multimedia support we now look forward, with confidence to expanding our international business.
